sendai era (host)

We are a Seattle-based music duo of emcee Era and producer Sendai Mike. We write and create videos and songs inspired by the stories of people in our community here in the PNW. We recently released our latest project “Kalayaan.” This album carries the lessons and experiences over the past few years, forming a myriad of songs that signify a new beginning for us. “Kalayaan” is the Tagalog word for “Liberation” — a feeling we tried to capture throughout the album.

Prometheus Brown

Prometheus Brown aka Geo fka Geologic began rapping before the Kingdome was demolished. Around the time the USA Patriot Act was signed into law, he formed the seminal Seattle hip-hop duo Blue Scholars with DJ/producer Sabzi, releasing 3 full-length albums and touring extensively between the beginning of the US-led invasion of Iraq and end of the 13th b’ak’tun of the Mayan calendar. He officially joined the Beatrock Music family during the height of the Occupy Wall Street movement, joining with label mate Bambu that same year to release the album Prometheus Brown and Bambu Walk into a Bar. With the addition of DJ Nphared, the trio became The Bar and subsequently released the Barkada LP and Son of Barkada EP shortly before Marshawn Lynch’s first retirement. When not rapping, which, these days, is most days, he co-runs Hood Famous Bakeshop and Hood Famous Cafe + Bar along with his wife, Chera. On the 856th day of Donald Trump’s presidency, he will release his first solo Beatrock Music project: Tagsibol, the first of a series of four three-song EPs to be released each season throughout the year.

Inspired by the timeless elements of R&B, Pop, Electronica, and Hip-Hop, Los Angeles based music producer 'Bohkeh' creates a new sound with his personal twist of low-fi and poppy beats on his MPD. Bohkeh compliments many of today's popular hits with his artistry of self-made tempo and tone that he uniquely ties in each and every one of his tracks, creating an unreplicable and unpredictable result of sound for any listener to discover. Serving his love for music, Bohkehcontinues to produce songs humbly from his bedroom as an ode to the overlooked details of inspiration any musical artist can gain from their lives, including ordinary background noise, that he uses as advantage for his music.

Bambu DePistola's career has paralleled the climb of Beatrock since its inception as a clothing brand from Long Beach. His first official band t-shirt was designed and released by Beatrock back in 2003, and when Fatgums took on the task of building the musical arm of the brand, it was a natural fit. Together, Bambu and Fatgums have helped grow the label into one of the most fruitful and culturally forward record labels in the Underground Hip Hop game. As the resident adviser for the team, Bambu aims to create an artist-driven, socially responsible company. With Fatgums and Kat Carrido, Bambu looks to advance and strengthen the social capital the label has garnered in its decade of existence.
